Junior Parents and Students,
November is a busy month. Take advantage of the opportunities available and enjoy the holidays.
11.07: College & Career Night – Cabrillo’s Annual College & Career Night, 6:00 – 8:00 pm. This is an ideal time for juniors to meet with college representatives and get ideas of possible matches for their college plans. See the list of college reps who attended lastyear: https://www.cabrillo.edu/services/transfercenter/documents/ListofGymReps2015_000.pdf This is also an ideal time for juniors who are interested in learning about two-year programs, CTE certificate programs, and transfer programs to four-year colleges.
- Gym (Building 1100) Meet university representatives and learn about transfer programs
- Library (Building 1000) Explore Cabrillo College 2-year programs including transfer
- Cafeteria (Building 900) Discover Career Technical Education (CTE) and Regional Occupation Programs (ROP)
- Financial Aid Presentations in the Library, Room 1051 (2nd floor) at 6:15pm, 6:45pm and 7:15pm

11.09: Miss Representation Film Screening. JUNIORS: the SLVHS Cougar Parents Club is pleased to present an encore showing of the award-winning film Miss Representation. Free tickets are available here:slvmissrep.eventbrite.com. Students may receive extra credit in some classes. Donations appreciated. This film explores the idea that the media teaches girls and young women that value lies in their youth, beauty, and sexuality and not in their capacity as leaders. Miss Representation explores how mainstream media and culture can contribute to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America.
11.11: Veterans Day. No School. Use this day to catch up on any missing work before the 2nd Progress Report closes on the 18th.
11.14: Career Expo in the MPR. Local career representatives from 18 different companies or professions will meet with students during their social studies classes. Students will prepare questions and have an opportunity to talk with local business leaders about their careers and opportunities in their fields.
11.18: Grades close for the 2nd Progress Report.
11.19 – 11.27: Thanksgiving break.
