Only THREE shows left! Tonight and Tomorrow Night (Fri & Sat) at 7:00 pm. Sunday Matinee at 2:00 pm – SLVHS Performing Arts Center. It’s an amazing show. One of the best I’ve seen at SLV. Come on out and support the arts at our high school and have a great time.
Tickets are $13 for students, $15 for seniors, and $18 for general admission.
We do discuss the results and use them to plan for next year.
As a parent who has filled out many of these surveys, I made some changes this year in order to shorten the time it takes you to fill it out, as the surveys have been a bit lengthy in the past.
We look forward to seeing what our parents have to say about our High School.

Cougar Parent Club Looking for Parents of Next Year’s Seniors
You are invited to join us at the Cougar Parent Club Meeting next Thursday May 11 from 6:30-8 pm in the Staff Room to discuss the latest issues at SLVHS with Principal Jeff Calden, to plan for senior breakfast before graduation, and to give your input on academic enrichment and career activities for the coming year. We hope to see many of you there.
We are looking for parents whose students will be SENIORS next year. Right now, we do not have much representation from that class and we want to be able to put on all of the fun activities we do for seniors each year, but need parent support from that class to be able to do so. Thanks.
Military Recruiters on Campus next Thursday, May 11 at Lunch
Recruiters from the different branches of the United States Military will have tables set up in the main quad at lunch next Thursday. California and Federal education law allows military recruiters access to campuses in the same manner as college or business recruiters. Students can choose or not choose to visit the tables. As is the case with other types of recruiters, no students will be approached.

Spring Athletics Physicals at SLVHS coming Wednesday, May 24
Attention all incoming freshmen and returning high school student athletes. The governing body of high school athletics in the state of California, the CIF, requires that all athletes participating in after school athletics have a current physical (not more than 12 months old) on file with their high school to be eligible to practice and compete.
On Wednesday, May 24th beginning at 3:30 pm SLVHS will offer the opportunity for all incoming freshmen and returning student athletes to satisfy this requirement for the 2017-2018 school year. There is a suggested $20.00 cash or check donation for the service (checks made out to SLVHS)
In order to participate in the Spring Physical Event, please go to the link below and print and completely fill out all the forms listed under the Student Athlete Packet PRIOR TO ARRIVING AT 3:30 ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 24TH. Note that on the CIF Physical Form you are to complete page one (History Form) and the emergency information section of page three (Clearance Form). Football players don’t forget the Football Specific Zero Tolerance Policy form.
ARRIVING AT THE SPRING PHYSICAL EVENT WITHOUT ALL THE FORMS IN THE STUDENT ATHLETE PACKET COMPLETED WILL CAUSE DELAY.
Coaches will be on hand to discuss the upcoming season and tryout/practice schedules.
Grad Night is getting close and it has been a long-standing tradition at SLVHS that the parents of the Junior Class head up staffing on the actual night. This is for two reasons. First and foremost, this way we get a good look at what goes on and begin to get ideas about what we may do for our kids next year. Secondly, this way the Graduates, for the most part, don’t have their own parents around on their celebration night. If you are a parent of Sophomores or Freshman, we encourage you to sign up as well and get an early look at this fun event.
Please take a look at the Sign-Up and see what job might appeal to you.
The sooner you sign-up the better choice you will have, so get in early.
We need parent volunteers for the Bite of Reality financial simulator. This event for HS Seniors will be a real-life exercise in managing their own finances after they graduate in June. Volunteers will be needed at different stations that students visit. No training needed beforehand, instructions will be given each day. Lunch will be provided each day for all volunteers. Without our volunteers, we will not have enough people for this real-life financial education experience to happen!
Cougar Parents Club has partnered with Monarch Services to provide Sexual Assault Prevention Workshops to seniors during their Language Arts classes during the week of May 15. More details and permission slips will be emailed to senior parents.
Monarch Services is a nonprofit organization that provides educational presentations to schools and other organizations, crisis intervention and counseling in Santa Cruz County. For more information visit: monarchscc.org
