From the Freshman Counselor

Welcome back to the second semester of freshmen year. We've had a wet and wild start to the year but it's good to see everyone back in classes and 2nd semester off to a great start. I have just a few pieces of information to highlight:

1st Semester Report cards: Went in the mail today which means most of you will be receiving them next week, hopefully. I will be meeting with all freshmen in two weeks to work on initial selections for Sophomore classes. Hard to believe but the process starts now and students need to be as accurate as possible. Parents, I will be having the students bring home a copy of their sophomore class selections to share with you. If you have any concerns or changes, please let me know as soon as possible so we can give the district correct numbers for scheduling.

Summer School: I will also be meeting with any students and emailing parents of students who may need summer school due to poor grades from semester 1.  Registration for summer school does not begin until April but I want students and families to be informed if we are recommending summer school.

College Night at SLVHS: January 30th, 6:30pm, PAC - hear from AP teachers, UCSC & CSUMB Admission counselors and a Cabrillo representative. This is a great opportunity for students and parents to get an overview about our state college systems and hear from the people who are on the other end of the admission decisions.

ENJOY YOUR 3 Day MLK Weekend!!
