Principal's Message
from Jeff Calden
Next Week is the last week before Final Exam week. This weekend is the time for all students to do the best they can to complete current assignments and/or go back and take care of missing assignments in their classes before Finals. Doing this will not only help to raise your grades, it will also help to prepare for Finals. Please remember that if you are currently playing a sport or in the High School Musical production, eligibility to participate for the period of Monday, January 10th through Friday, February 25th will be based on your final Semester One grades.
Schedule for Finals Week (December 13 - 17) is attached to this email.

Description of Club:
The SLVHS Jazz Band focuses on rehearsing small ensemble jazz compositions in order to perform at various events. The meeting times before school are for group rehearsal. Members should commit to practicing pieces on their own in addition to rehearsals if needed. Join us in having fun playing jazz music!

You must already know how to play an instrument of your choice at an intermediate level. Jazz compositions are more flexible than traditional compositions, so guitar, bass, drum set, and piano are all options in addition to any traditional band instruments. SLV Middle School Musical Opens Tonight!
Get your tickets for Dear Edwina Jr., which is based on the original New York production of Dear Edwina, with music by Zina Goldrich and book & lyrics by Marcy Heisler. This 1-hour musical is directed by Tara McMilin, with music and vocal direction by Nicki Kerns and choreography by Mikaela Ballmer, and is presented at the SLV Performing Arts Center. The story follows the adventures of plucky advice-giver-extraordinaire, Edwina Spoonapple, as she directs the neighborhood kids in a series of buoyant production numbers for the latest edition of her weekly "Advice-a-Palooza.” Edwina and her friends share wisdom on everything from trying new foods to making new friends, through clever, catchy and poignant songs.
