From the Sophomore Counselor 3/27

Greetings Sophomores and Parents,

Missing seeing you in the halls, parking lots, out at the track or running in Fall Creek. What a strange, new world we are all navigating. Hope you are all doing well and staying safe. Here's some updated information and reminders for this week. A few repeats from last week of critical information we want to make sure you are all aware of:

Here's some important updates for Sophomores:

Grades: We were able to freeze grades last week so we have a record of where you were before online learning started. Some teachers can also do grade changes for students who make up missing work and this is an opportunity for some of you to get grades up to passing or even better. We can all work together towards getting all grades up to passing during this time.

Course Requests: I was able to meet with all sophomores before the school closure. I am moving forward with creating junior schedules. At this point in time, your course requests should be all set!

AP Test update: Will be coming out next week, stay tuned, but know that the tests will still be held most likely at home. Your teachers were all briefed this week and should be getting information out to you.

Naviance homework: I would love for each of you to go into your Naviance accounts and work on career surveys and research. You can also start building a college/postsecondary list of schools and training programs.

Cabrillo: All classes have gone to online formats. Make sure you are staying up to speed with those classes as well as your SLVHS classes.
Fall and Summer schedule: Due out April 14th. We are working with Cabrillo to do online dual enrollment paperwork and I will send out more information as the process is finalized.

Summer School Referrals: More information to come as I receive it -Cabrillo, County, & SLVHS have not released their summer school information yet. However, currently I'm going through my lists and putting together my recommendations for those of you that need summer school. I may be reaching out to check in with parents and students about your plans and what would work best for you.

Credit Recovery Class: Those students who are taking any CR courses, please know that they are available at home! You can email Jakeh Hall to unlock tests when you need to take them.

Know that I am available by email and please reach out to me if any issues come up. Please check in when needed to make sure you are doing what you need to do to move towards passing your classes, graduation and your plans beyond.

Take care, be safe and let me know if there is anything we can do as a school to help you out. we're here to support,
