SLV Food For Families
On Friday, April 17, 2020, SLVUSD and the SLV Foundation for Education launched SLV Food for Families to help families in SLV feed their children.
In one week the SLV Food for Families campaign raised over $14,000.00. This money will go to purchase grocery gift cards (as funds are available) for families currently on the SLVUSD Free & Reduced Lunch Program
Who is Eligible to Receive Food Cards?
Any student who is enrolled in the SLVUSD Free/Reduced Lunch Program is eligible. Families who are currently enrolled and are struggling to purchase food for their family may pick up a Safeway Card at the following Location:
Quail Hollow Campus,
325 Marion, Ave. Ben Lomond. Ca.
Friday, April 24, 2020 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm
Click the link below to apply to the SLV Free/Reduced Lunch Program
How You Can Help?
If you are currently employed, please consider helping the families in SLV feed their children. This is a disturbing time for all of us, but for those who are struggling to feed their children, it is terrifying.
Please help us take care of our kids and our families for a better tomorrow for all of us.
If your company or business participates in matching donation programs, please consider supporting SLV Food for Families. Every penny of this money will go to SLVUSD families who are struggling.

We have numerous families who have applied for assistance with food for their children and the number is increasing each week.
Since March 16 move to Online Distance Learning:

New Advanced Placement (A.P.) Testing Updates for Students and Families
AP Testing begins May 11th and concludes on May 22nd.
How Do I Pay for the Tests?
SLV High School is now accepting payment for AP Exams. Students, you should log in to your College Board account, see how many tests you are taking and multiply that by $94.
If you are part of the free/reduced lunch program, your cost is $53/test.
Send a check made out to SLVHS, and put your (student's) first and last name in the memo line. Address the envelope to SLVHS Attn: Annina Hausmann.
Payment is due to SLV High School by May 4th.
If your situation has changed and you and your family need financial support at this time, please contact Annina Hausmann at [email protected]
AP Art Students: Your Digital Art Submissions are due on Monday, May 11th.
Mrs. Thompson will then review them for you to make sure they are ready to be assessed.
AP Computer Science Students: Your Computer Performance Task must be turned into the AP Digital Portfolio by May 26th at 8:59 pm.
Exam Dates
* Exams will be given from May 11–22.
* Makeup test dates will be available for each subject from June 1–5.
* Students can take exams at home or in schools, if they reopen.
* Each subject's exam will be taken on the same day at the same time, worldwide.
Tips and Information for Students and Families
* Scores should come out July 15
* Open book: open book, open internet but tests are designed so that there is no way an answer can come from the internet
* Kids will practice uploading materials with teachers soon
* Tests were written with the knowledge that most students will not finish all questions. Just do your best. You can still pass even if you don't answer all questions.
* It's recommended that parents plan a place in the house for testing. Other family members should not take the bandwidth. All distractions should be thought about ahead of time (siblings)
* Tests won't be harder or easier than any other year.
* They have sophisticated ways of finding cheaters. If it's proven that you tried to cheat, you are reported to college admissions people everywhere.

From SLVUSD Nurse Sarah Dahlen
Hello SLV families! Our current shelter in place order will remain in effect until May 3rd. Beaches and parks opened April 16th. High contact areas, like playgrounds will remain closed at this time. Having this ability to spend time outdoors is so beneficial to our mental health. With this opening, we also have responsibility to continue to be diligent with our social distancing and ensure that crowding does not happen.
Some families have questions regarding efforts to keep current on their child’s vaccination schedules to meet school requirements, specifically for our incoming Kinders and advancing sixth graders for next fall. Below I have listed clinics that are still offering well child checks and immunization appointments. Some clinics will provide car visits. Please contact the office first. Contact me if I can be of any help obtaining further information or discussing your students specific progress on being up to date on their vaccination requirements.
KAISER - Providing immunizations to any patient who is due. Parents can contact PCP via online messaging to have the order placed. All clinics are open on a drop in basis from 9am-5pm

These opportunities range from scouting, sports, arts/drama, local community events, as well as other parent resources. In an effort to reduce paper, flyers will not be sent home to students; all approved flyers will be posted to this District-created website.
