From the Sophomore Counselor - Enrichment for Now and Summer

HI Sophomores and Parents,
This email is focused on additional enrichment opportunities happening now or this summer.
For anyone who is feeling overwhelmed or trying to finish strong and do well in all your classes, please ignore this or come back to it later. For those of you that are thinking you might want more or looking for ways to enrich or add to your lives, here's some opportunities that have come across my email:
  1. A graduate student at Stanford looking for high schoolers to learn more and actually participate in scientific research program this summer. See attached letter and link.
  2. A  summer class to study Hamilton and Lin Manuel Miranda's use of primary sources and historical research. See attached letter and here's the link to order your free course.
  3.  A 4 week minicourse for self directed students for preparing for college during an uncommon summer. More info below.
  4. This week, MAy 18-22: A coalition of colleges in the midwest including University of Chicago are offering a week of online activities for interested students. Check out attached letter.
  5. A chance to go visit an amazing liberal arts college in Maine next October. See informative letter to learn more about program. Let me know if you want me to make a counselor referral.
  6. Or just a chance for Harry Potter fans to listen to the books read by some of the actors who have been part of the films and Broadway productions. (link)
These are some of the best ideas I have seen in the past few weeks for those of you who might be looking for a little more. Check it out!!
