From the Freshman Counselor

Congratulations Freshmen and Parents on surviving the first week of high school (finally),
YOU DID IT! I have been so pleased to see that so many of you have been able to access your classes.
Also, I am happy to hear that many families have been able to return to their homes. I know this is a process and some of you are facing additional challenges. Please just keep us in the loop.

A few other reminders as we head into the school year:
Internet Connectivity: If you are having difficulties with internet connections, please let us know so we can work with your teachers and help you stay on track with school.
We have a list of students needing hot spots and are continuing to try and strategize as to how to help students and families that need help with access.

Monday Specials start next week: Be sure to read the CougarNews for directions on how to check into your homeroom and then participate in the activities. We will have counseling activities that will be my opportunity to connect and hear from students. This week's assignment should get all freshmen on their school email to let me know one way I can help or support you this year. Looking forward to hearing what you have to say and you'll get credit for participating. These classes count!!

Library Hours: Hopefully you all have your school books and materials. If you are missing something or still haven't picked up your books, the librarian will still be there each day from 7:30AM-2:00pm. If you cannot make that time work, email her and tell her what you need and we can arrange for a pick up at one of the offices. Our librarian's email is: [email protected] or let me know and I can help.

Student Store for Fire Victims: If you haven't been able to stop by yet, it is worth it. We have had an incredible donation of clothes and shoes. WE are also trying to keep up with the need for school supplies and backpacks. This store will remain open for the next 2 weeks in the PAC foyer-open 1pm-6pm Tuesday-Thursday next week and the following. Please take advantage of this.

Learn about Teen Volunteer Activities: The teen volunteer to career expo is happening September 30th, 4:00-5:15pm. This event is being put on by SC Public Libraries and Your Future is Our Business-2 great organizations. Fliers attached for more information. RSVP: https://santacruzpl.libcal.com/event/7071215 or Tinyurl.com/teenexpo

I am so sad not to be getting to know you all face to face and looking forward to when that day will come. In the meantime, keep showing up online and doing what you need to do to keep up with school. Take care and stay safe, SLV Strong!
