OPENING NIGHT IS TONIGHT! FRIDAY, OCTOBER 28TH!
The SLVHS Theatre Student Production of: The Bold, the Young, and the Murdered by Don Zolidis
October 28-November 6, 2022: Fridays & Saturdays @ 7:00pm, Sundays @ 2:00pm
Thursday, November 3 @ 7:00pm (Community Night)
Tickets: $12 General, $10 Senior/Student/SLV Staff, $10 Community Night (11/3 only, all tickets)
Get your tickets for The Bold, the Young, and the Murdered, written by Don Zolidis, and directed by SLVHS seniors Jamie McLean and Asher Trageser. The Bold, the Young, and the Murdered takes place on the television set of the long-running soap opera, The Bold and the Young, which is in its last days: its hunky hero has self-esteem issues, its villainous old man is more interested in soup, and its heroines are slightly psychopathic. The executive producer gives the squabbling cast an ultimatum: Complete one episode overnight or the show dies. But when the director ends up murdered, and other cast members start dropping like flies, it seems like his threat might actually come true. Can these misfits discover the murderer before the show is literally killed off? Performances are at the SLV Performing Arts Center (PAC). More information and tickets are available at SLV Theatre Boosters: https://hs.slvusd.org/apps/pages/theatreboosters
Monday is Halloween and students and staff are welcome and encouraged to dress up.
However, please make sure that costumes are appropriate for school. Here are a few tips:
- School Dress Code Applies - Students with costumes that break dress code will need to change out of their costumes
- No weapons as props - No fake swords, knives, guns, spears, ninja stars, etc. No real ones either
- A student’s costume must allow for them to still sit at a desk or table and be able to do their schoolwork
Thanks for getting it right before getting to school. That way, everybody has a good day.
Second Grading Period of Semester One ends next Friday, November 4th
The second Progress Report Grading Period Ends next Friday, November 4th. These grades are a snapshot in time of each student's current grades.

However, in High School, each grading period determines Eligibility for things like Athletics and Drama participation. Students must have a 2.0 and no more than one F to remain eligible. Students get one probationary period each year. Once determined ineligible, a student remains ineligible until the next grading period ends. This is the last progress report of Semester One. The next set of grades will be the Final Semester One Grades.

After very successful trips past summers to Costa Rica, Perú, Spain, Panamá, and the Dominican Republic, we are going to Ecuador in 2023!
Ms. Osenga hosted a virtual parent informational meeting last Wednesday, October 26th at 6:00 pm on zoom If you're interested, please still RSVP and I will get the information to you! Please click here to reserve your spot at the meeting: https://rsvp.eftours.com/dub3kaw. ENROLLMENT DEADLINE: Wednesday, November 2.
Adventure Awaits -We’re Going to Ecuador & The Galapagos Islands
Your SLVHS Student is invited to join Ms. Osenga on a once-in-a-lifetime travel experience to Ecuador & The Galapagos Islands in June 2023. Your perspective on the world evolves when you walk in Darwin's footsteps on this fascinating archipelago. On Isabela, Santa Cruz and San Cristóbal islands, observe the giant tortoises, finches and mockingbirds that helped solidify Darwin's theory of evolution. On mainland Ecuador, the discoveries are more culturally oriented at Quito's Independence Plaza, the Intiñan Museum and Otavalo.
I hope you will consider this great opportunity. Please don't hesitate to ask questions, and consider signing up early as space is limited.
FYI - This summer trip abroad and any other summer trips offered are NOT school-sponsored events.
They are private events organized and run by a staff member and a company that specializes in this sort of trip.
