From the Senior Counselor 10/17/20

HI Seniors & Parents!

Hope this email finds you well & starting to cool off from this heat wave! I know it has been a rough start to the year, but I am so proud of how hard my seniors are working to make the best of it. I am here for you, even from afar!

Just a few updates I wanted to be sure to share with you:

Those attending Cabrillo, Fall 2021. Application for Fall 2021 is open! This is one of the first steps towards getting that priority registration, so get on it!

Cabrillo Dual Enrollment, Spring 2021. Interested in taking a Cabrillo College class this spring semester? The application is now open! Please see attached for a list of courses that Cabrillo recommends for High School students. I also attached the Dual Enrollment Form that outlines the necessary steps to make this happen.

Drop In Zoom Appointment.I am thinking of holding another "Drop In" Zoom appointment soon for students to ask general college application questions. Is this something seniors would be interested in? Please let me know & I will plan accordingly.

Schoology page. The access code (W685-F688-JVCH5) works for both students & parents. The page I created is intended to be a one - stop - shop for most of your questions. While I am happy to answer any and all questions, this is definitely an underused resource.

No more open calendar. If you want to set up a meeting with me via zoom please email me directly. Students were no longer being consistent in attending the meetings that were self- booked via my YouCanBookMe platform.

Senior Sunrise. Oct. 30th at Roaring Camp. Check the invite from Ms. Hackett for more info. I wish I could be there to see you all, at a safe distance, but I am unfortunately not able to attend. I am so happy you get to have a piece of the regular senior year events.

FAFSA. Opened Oct. 1. Need help? Attend the upcoming FAFSA workshop. Check out Charlotte Achen's latest email for the details!

Grades Close for Grading Period. Grades close on Friday, Oct. 30 for the first progress report. Please make sure you are keeping up with your classes! Don't forget to attend the after lunch academic supports if needed!

Need a letter of recommendation from me? I have a feeling there are more students out there who will need me to write a letter of recommendation. PLEASE do not wait until you are sending in your applications to request a letter. The more advance notice you give me, the more time I am able to write the best letter possible.

Best,
Jen Kelly
