Lockdown Drill next Wednesday, February 2nd

SLV High School will have a Lockdown Drill next Wednesday, February 2nd.

This will be a regular Lockdown Drill for possible danger in the area, not a Code Red Lockdown Drill for danger on campus.

Teachers will lock doors, close windows, and turn off lights. During the lockdown drill, teachers will discuss with students what to do during a Lockdown and a Code Red Lockdown.  While doing these drills can bring up difficult topics, being prepared for an emergency situation is the best way to be safe.

rotary 4 way test speech contest

The contest involves writing a four-to-five minute speech on a specific Rotary topic and then delivering that speech at an SLV Rotary Meeting in Boulder Creek.
This year's topic is: Serve to Change Lives

SLV High students have competed in this contest for many years, some going on from our local contest to the County and State level.

The members of SLV Rotary judge the speeches on specific guidelines and award three cash prizes:
$200 for 1st place, $100 for 2nd place, and $50 for 3rd place.  The winner has the opportunity to compete at higher levels for more prize money.

The Speech Contest will be held on Thursday, February 24th at 7:00 pm at Scopazzi's Restaurant in Boulder Creek.
Anyone interested in being part of the contest must contact me at [email protected] by February 7th and provide me with the information stated on the flier.
I will also meet briefly with all contestants to go over the rules and theme of the contest.

covid-19
This new variant, combined with the cold weather and coming back from vacation, has caused a larger number of positive cases on campus than we have previously experienced. We will continue to test all exposures in order to keep the campus as safe as possible as we move forward.  Please continue to be vigilant about wearing your mask inside, and consider keeping yourself even more protected by wearing your mask outside when around other people.

If you currently have any symptoms, even minor ones, please get a test ASAP and do not come to school. Please call the attendance line to let us know, and do your best to get tested at the County Office of Education or any other free local testing site, such as CVS, Walgreens, Mountain Community Resources. There is a list of Testing Resources below

We want to be smart and vigilant as we move forward. If you are sick or showing symptoms, stay home from school, get tested, and let us know what your situation is so we can support you.  Students coming to school with symptoms will create more positive cases on our campus and nobody wants that.

Symptoms of COVID include: Fever or chills, Cough, Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, Fatigue, Muscle or body aches, Headache, New loss of taste or smell, Sore throat, Congestion or runny nose, Nausea or vomiting, Diarrhea, Trouble breathing, Persistent pain or pressure in the chest.

Thank you in advance for supporting the safety of our students, staff, families, and the valley community.
