From The Senior Counselor 11/2/18

Hi all-

I hope Halloween treated you well! It was so fun to see students and staff dressed up in some pretty great costumes! I have just a few reminders for you all:

Eligibility. The second grading period closes today and eligibility for co-curricular activities will be declared next week. The rest of the semester will go by very quickly so please make sure you are staying on top of your grades!

Academic Teacher Support. Please see the attached document regarding teacher availability if you should need additional support with your classes.

Senior Exit Portfolio. Packets were distributed a few weeks ago in Gov/Econ classes. If you were absent please come by the Counseling Office to get a packet or go here for all the information you will need. Students should pick a mentor by November 16th and must turn in planning meeting and contract by December 14th. Do not forget that the SEP is a graduation requirement, so please take it seriously.

Letters of Recommendation. Just a friendly reminder that if you are in need of a letter of recommendation from either myself or teachers that you should ask in person or at least via email. Please do not assume that sending a request in Naviance will get to your teacher. For best results, you should follow up with your letter writer.

College Applications. Now that we are in the month of November, please keep in mind that CSU & UC applications need to be submitted by the end of this month (Nov. 30). Most private and out state schools have similar deadlines so please stay on top of your deadlines. Also, even if you have not heard whether or not you are accepted to the school(s) of your choice you should check into scholarships for freshmen. Some scholarships may be due prior to the acceptance notification. If you need any assistance, please let me know!

SAT & ACT. The last day to register for the December test date is TODAY!

Have a great weekend.

Thanks,
Jen Kelly
