From The Sophomore Counselor 11/2/18

Hi all-

I hope Halloween treated you well! It was so fun to see students and staff dressed up in some pretty great costumes! I have just a few reminders for you all:

Eligibility. The second grading period closes today and eligibility for co-curricular activities will be declared next week. The rest of the semester will go by very quickly so please make sure you are staying on top of your grades!

Academic Teacher Support. Please see the attached document regarding teacher availability if you should need additional support with your classes.

Sophomore Meetings. I am starting the process of checking in with sophomores, so if you get a yellow slip from the Counseling Office, it is for that meeting.

Marine Corps. Students interested in joining the armed forces, please come see me about a potential summer program that may assist you in pursuing this venture.

World Affairs.  Summer study abroad scholarship application is open! Each year, World Affairs, in partnership with the Experiment in International Living, fully funds Bay Area students to spend 4-6 weeks abroad! Last year students from Gateway High School, Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts, Lowell High School and San Lorenzo Valley High School studied in South Africa, the United Kingdom, Mongolia and Tanzania! There will be a Study Abroad Info Session on December 6 from 6 – 7:30 PM at World Affairs in San Francisco. We invite you and your community to attend! You can RSVP here.

Thanks,
Jen Kelly
