Real DUI Court Assembly on Monday
SLVHS will having a DUI Court Hearing Assembly for our Juniors and Seniors this Monday morning in the gym.
The Santa Cruz County Office of Education set up this program for schools to have an actual hearing with a judge, defendant, and lawyers on a DUI case.
A brief description of the Assembly is below and here is a link to their webpage. https://www.realduicourt.com/
The Real DUI Court in Schools Program
Moving an actual DUI sentencing away from a county courthouse to a local high school is a two-prong approach of educating teenagers about the legal consequences of drinking and driving as well as the role and decisions of judicial branch of the government. Students will have an opportunity to directly witness the defendant’s arrest, detention, and the imposed fines and penalties. Following the sentencing the judge will make a brief presentation and co-facilitate and interactive portion of the assembly. The intent is to allow for significant dialogue among the students, defendant, judge, attorneys, law enforcement officers, teachers, and special guest. The 90-minute presentation concludes with a dynamic testimony from a victim of a DUI crash and/or a Drug Recognition Expert.

California School Dashboard
The California School Dashboard is an online tool designed to help communities across the state access information about K–12 schools and districts. The Dashboard features reports on multiple measures of school success. Instead of looking at a single measure (test scores), the Dashboard looks at multiple measures to evaluate a district's and a school's performance. The Dashboard also is based on an improvement model, looking for districts and schools to make improvements, rather than simply comparing them to other districts and schools. You can access SLV district information and information about all schools in the district at this link: http://www.caschooldashboard.
Staff and students shall refrain from bringing furred or feathered animals, stuffed toys that may collect dust mites, scented candles, incense or air fresheners and from using perfume or cologne, scented hair spray, nail polish or nail polish remover that are not fragrance-free in classrooms or other enclosed areas or buildings.
